Pop-up shop excitement

Excitement was in the air this afternoon when Geopark Co-ordinator Lisa Heinz, Geopark educator Sasha Morriss and local artist Matthew Wicks met at 27 Thames street to start the ball rolling for the Geopark pop up shop which aims to be open from March to June this year. Matthew will be designing the artwork including a plesiosaur mural on one wall. Sasha is in charge of making sure there is plenty for younger Geopark fans to enjoy. The shop would be a place for local and visitors to learn about the Waitaki Whitestone Geopark, the global Geopark network and what the benefits could be for Waitaki.

"What a fantastic window into the past. Today we saw fossil bones in limestone at two different sites. One set were whale bones. Just awesome that this trail has been put together, maintained and promoted."
