Through the Waitaki District Council's internship programme, Anouk de Lange from the Netherlands has joined the Geopark Team this February to support marketing and communication.

Anouk studies International Business and Languages and comes from a small village in the Netherlands and wants to broaden her horizons. Like a truly Dutch person, she loves cycling and hiking. "That's quite a challenge here, because I am not used to all those mountains and hills.", she says. She started her internship with full enthusiasm and is looking forward to the upcoming time in Waitaki.

Anouk will be with the team until June this year. During that time she will do her final research project for her degree, looking at a marketing and communications plan for the Waitaki Whitestone Geopark. Anouk will also help out in the pop-up shop and engage with locals and visitors at several outreach activities.

"What a fantastic window into the past. Today we saw fossil bones in limestone at two different sites. One set were whale bones. Just awesome that this trail has been put together, maintained and promoted."
