12.03.23 BEACH CLEAN UP FOR SEAWEEK

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

We are excited to host another Beach Clean Up for Seaweek 2023. Seaweek is an opportunity for all ages to discover the many ways that our lives are connected to the sea. In March every year, the group encourages and promotes events and community action projects to inspire and enable this connection, through:

  • activities and presentations within schools

  • community beach clean-ups

  • kayaking and snorkelling experiences

  • marine ecosystem field trips and engagements with citizen science.

We are taking action this year by organising a beach clean up at the Kakanui Beach Reserve. Think of the beach as a bridge between the land and the marine environment. It’s a critical biodiversity area. Cleaning our beaches is a step towards cleaning our oceans.

Bring the whole family and join us for a fun day out at one of our beautiful local beaches to collect litter.

"What a fantastic window into the past. Today we saw fossil bones in limestone at two different sites. One set were whale bones. Just awesome that this trail has been put together, maintained and promoted."
