Visit Hampden's ancient locals - a walk in geological time
When we are going for a tranquil walk along the beach we generally miss the signs of the dramas which have played out in our geological past. But this area’s fossils, from Shag Point to Waianakarua, from the microscopic to the mighty, are of international significance. Resident geologist Dr Mike Pole will give a talk putting North Otago geology into its broader context over 100 million years. A display of local fossils will be in the Hampden Library as part of the Geopark Festival.
